Policy Change

After hours - late pick up per child. $15.00 for 1-5 minutes late, then $5 per minute thereafter. 3 late pick ups may result in termination of services. We will follow the abandoned child procedure, if your child is not picked up by the proper time.

The policy change is not for monetary gain, but to insure that the Seeds staff can leave their shift promptly and spend time with their families.

NAEYC Update-Meals/Updated Parent Handbook

Just a reminder that breakfast will be served at 8:45 a.m. for the Dragonfly class and 9:00 a.m. for both the Ladybugs and Bumblebees. If you would like your child to eat breakfast, they must be at school by 8:45 a.m.

At the October 14th family potluck meeting we will be introducing our updated Parent Handbook. We really hope to have as many parents attend as possible. All families will receive 2 hours of Parent Involvement.

The Green School Project

Great News! If you have kiddos at the Elementary School, you might already be on top of this opportunity. If not, Seeds has joined the GREEN SCHOOL PROJECT. At no cost to us, we can recycle cell phones and ink cartridges. The bonus is that the GREEN SCHOOL PROJECT pays us to do so. It is a win, win situation. The environment benefits and Seeds benefits. Yeah!

You can drop off old cell phones and ink cartridges anytime Seeds is open. We will simply fill the GREEN SCHOOL PROJECT boxes and send them in for recycling.

Miss Karen has recently moved to Pagosa Springs and wants to volunteer at Seeds of learning and teach Kindermusik. Karen has taught Kindermusic for many years now. Starting Thursday, September 9th our preschool will have Kindermusik weekly. We will be alternating days weekly between Wednesdays and Thursdays so all our part time preschools get this great opportunity.

Seeds of Learning Philosophy

Quality early care and education not only includes excellent care, education and parent education, as well as health and safety, but a relationship between children and their families.  We acknowledge the fact that children are unique and individual, come from their own culture, and deserve respect in regard to that culture.  We can truly prove our love for children and their families by respecting their culture.

The Seeds of Learning philosophy encompasses high quality early care and education, the Incredible Years Dinosaur School (problem solving and conflict resolution for children), Creative Curriculum curricula offered to all children, the Incredible Years Parenting class, as well as any other topic brought forth by families.  It is our wish to work closely with parents to meet the social, emotional, physical and cognitive needs of each child, thereby promoting the child’s self-awareness and self-confidence.  We partner with families so they feel respected, supported and nurtured in their child rearing efforts.

Warm, supportive and respectful relationships between adults and children lie at the heart of good care for children.  We believe early care and education centers can and must be a place where children, parents and caregivers alike can feel a sense of belonging, as if they are family.  Healthy children and healthy families make healthy communities.

Bumblebee News

The Bumblebee class is a room of constant change and this month will be no different. We say goodbye to our friends William and Anja and say hello to our new friends Taylor and Alexsa. We are very excited to meet our new friends.

We are so excited to meet Ms. Christine, the Librarian. She will be coming into our room the second Tuesday of every month @9:30 a.m. to tell us stories, sing songs, and do finger plays. We can't wait!

This month we have learned about happy, happy faces and "If you are happy and you know it..." If you feel happy, you have a big smile, you may get giggly, your eyes get bright and your tummy may feel tickly inside. Clowns have happy faces just like we do when we play with yellow goop or when we dance to music. We have also been practicing pouring water from pitchers to cups and using serving spoons and tongs to scoop and pick things up. We are getting really good at coordination.

We look forward to September and the changes Mother Nature begins to give us outdoors.

Dragonfly News

August has flown by for the Dragonfly class! We learned about the County Fair. We even had stables in our play area to pretend that we were horses.

Our garden has been so much fun! We have harvested lettuce and tomatoes. Yummy! They are so good! We have also been fishing for the letters of the alphabet and counting out friends for some lonely bears.

Our Kindergartners are looking forward to starting school. We will miss then a lot, but we are looking forward to meeting our new friends.

We are excited for the school year to start. We are so lucky because Miss Karen is going to come once a week to teach Kindermusik to us. Every Wednesday or Thursday Miss Karen will be here at 3:00 p.m. for about 45 min. Thanks Miss Karen.

We can't wait to start going to the library again to read with Miss Christine. We will go on the first Thursday of every month. Please joins us on our walks while the weather is so nice.

Ladybug News

The Ladybug class welcomed and closed summer with water! We finished summer making water glass music, bubble artwork, ice painting and water wheels in the classroom! It was so much fun.

We said goodbye and good luck to our kindergartners with a farewell spirit week celebrating crazy socks, rainbow clothes, and even our pajamas! We will miss them a lot.

Now that the school year has officially started we cannot wait to start visiting the library again with Miss Christine. Parents are always welcome to enjoy our adventure to the library with their little ones! (We actually need volunteers too) We are also lucky to be welcoming back Mr. Bob every Friday for storytelling.

Yeah! Miss Ruby had her little girl August 3rd. We miss her so much, but can't wait for her to come and visit this month with the baby. Congratulations from the Ladybugs!!

Kids quotes of a month!! (names have been changed to protect the innocent.)

"Look! A daddy & mommy long legs. "

"I am Buzz Light Year and I come in pieces. "

"Miss Ginger, I don't feel well."
"Is your tummy upset?"
"Yeah, my tummy is making funny faces and it needs a drink!"

Mary Mary with snow white lamb, how does your garden grow. Rain, rain go away, it's raining, its boring, children want to play.

"I am not your friend when you say POOP!"
